Flint Federal Building
Flint Federal Building
Flint, Michigan

Government Agency: U.S. General Services Administration
Subcontracting: Asbestos Abatement, Ceiling Installation, Elevator Work, Duct Fabrication and Fire Suppression
Completed: July 2009

Master Electric, Inc. was selected as the Prime Contractor for this project. Contract documents called for the installation of an addressable, multiplex intelligent fire detection/alarm system that coordinated fire alarm panel installation and UL listed Central Station.

The existing system remained fully operational until the new system was tested and accepted by GSA. The old system was then removed and all affected areas were restored to their original state.

The existing spline ceiling was replaced with a new grid ceiling and a new lighting system was installed on the first floor.
Most work was completed during working hours in a secured Federal Courthouse. Work in Court spaces was completed during “off” hours and these spaces had to be prepared for business by 7:30 a.m. the next morning. All work was performed so as not to interfere with Government operations in the building and in strict accordance with high-level security requirements.
